If you’re after an EV it’s well worth taking a look at the electric cars Hyundai has to offer. Because while the firm only sells three models of battery-powered cars at present, each is both appealing and hugely competent.

Electric Hyundai car models: current range

Hyundai’s electric car offerings start at about £32,000 and top out at around £47,000, making the firm’s EVs some of the more affordable ones on the market.

Hyundai Kona Electric

The Hyundai Kona is offered in three varieties: there’s a conventional ‘self-charging’ hybrid, a plug-in hybrid model and a full electric car, the Kona Electric. With two battery sizes - 39 and 64 kiloWatt hours, the Kona EV can officially travel between 189 and 301 miles between charges, and will get you where you’re going with impressive refinement and in a comfortable cabin with lots of features.

Hyundai Ioniq 5

A stylish, funky EV, the Ioniq 5 is a cross between a hatchback and an SUV. Whatever class it fits in, though, the Ioniq 5 can travel between 238 and 315 miles, depending on whether you go for the smaller 58 kiloWatt hour battery, or spend a little more to get the 77kWh pack. An easy car to drive and smooth performer, the Ioniq 5 is comfortable, spacious, and has a nice sense of futurism about it that fits its electric status well.

Hyundai Ioniq 6

The Ioniq 6 is Hyundai’s range-topping EV, and like the 5 it’s a dramatically styled machine that really stands out from the crowd. All versions come with a 77kWh battery providing a range of up to 338 miles, while you can choose from rear or four-wheel drive. The interior is a really nice place to sit, even if we’d steer you away from the camera-based wing mirrors.
